    What Ron Reads

    What Ron Reads

    by

    Since Apr 28, 2020 19:20 UTC

Unleashing the magic of books through the eyes of a kid by the kid himself. Close your eyes and embark on a journey with Ron, as he reads to you stories, verses, poems by authors from around the globe. Let us travel to the places unexplored.

You Know what! My mom says at times one just needs to figure out what one cares about the most in life, and then keep focusing on that to actually make a difference.

Today I am going to tell you about Yash Gupta. Yash use to wear glasses just like me. He was fourteen when while playing Taekwondo one day his glasses got smashed.

He had to wait for many days for the new pair to arrive but in these days, he realized that how dependent he was on them His world suddenly became blurry. He had a hard time seeing the blackboard in school and trouble keeping up with his work.

Getting them back, he took a sigh of relief but he also wondered that what it was to live without glasses if you medically needed one.

He did some research on the internet and he was shocked to find out that over thirteen million kids in the world didn’t have money to buy glasses. He also discovered that millions of people threw away their old glasses when they got new prescriptions.

And this gave him an idea!

He came up with a plan to create sight learning, which is a Nonprofit organization that collects and distributes eye glasses to student in need around the world.

Because he understood the fact that a good eyesight can play an important role in one’s education.

He along with his father contacted the local eye doctors and asked if he could leave boxes at their front desk, so that people could donate their old glasses. And then there was no looking back. Since 2010, Sight Learning has collected and distributed over sixteen million dollars’ worth of eye glasses throughout the world.

What a brilliant idea! Right! And what a heartwarming story.

Have you ever wondered what is it that you care about the most?

Well I am going to take a leave with this, here is Ron signing off see you next week with another beautiful story from around the world right here on What Ron reads.

DJ V-Rod’s House Noir Mix Series.

DJ V-Rod’s House Noir Mix Series.

    by

    Since Feb 19, 2016 04:18 UTC

Vince Rodriguez, known as “DJ V-ROD”, is a local DJ in the Chicago area. Born and raised in Chicago, V-ROD’s main advantage was growing up and being exposed to the birth of House Music in his youth. Influencing this exposure in Vince’s life were radio stations that played House Music like 102.7 FM WBMX, 89.3 FM WKKC (Kennedy King College) and 90.5 FM WCYC (Chicago Boys and Girls Club). Being exposed to this new “fad” during the 1980’s, it wasn’t enough to just be a listener… Vince wanted to learn to be more like the DJ’s on those radio stations. So, he intently listened to and recorded the house music shows from those radio stations on to cassette tapes. While doing so, he learned the basic method of blending by studying those tapes by his favorite radio DJs. It wasn’t until his 8th grade year in 1987 that Vince was finally able to gain access to a real set of turntables (not the Technics 1200 turntables) and a Realistic mixer via a fellow classmate. That was when Vince finally felt like a DJ. Throughout the years since the start of Vince’s DJ career, he managed to play several different styles of House Music, Disco and Alternative/Industrial music while playing in several basement/house parties, and special events as well as some high school and corporate functions. As the years passed, he managed to belong to several DJ groups, performing in front of medium to large crowds on occasion. Never feeling satisfied, Vince felt the need for more depth in how he wanted to express his talents and went back to the roots of his knowledge of music. He found himself going back to House Music and Disco. In the late 90’s to early 2000’s, Vince was searching in the internet for other people or groups that loved Deep House and Disco as much as he did. He found a web site called the “Deep House Page”. During the time of this new discovery, Vince created new influential friendships and developed a deeper knowledge of how House Music was seen through the world’s view via this web site. It was at this time that DJ V-ROD was born. V-ROD’s eyes were open to a new world of music outside of Chicago. Since then, V-ROD has always looked forward to discovering new music from all over, while still being deeply rooted in the Chicago House Sound. Today, you will find that DJ V-ROD’s style not only consists of House Music music and Disco but he will incorporate other genre’s such as R&B, Retro Alternative, Soft Rock and Latin music in his sets, deeply invigorating his crowds onto the dance floor. After taking time off to raise his family, V-ROD finds that he is ready for a bigger platform in terms of playing to different clubs and crowds that cater to this style of dance music. He also wants to try his hand at music production and re-edits. Currently, V-ROD has a weekly internet radio show on www.newagesoul.com which occurs Friday nights 9pm – until??? Central Standard Time U.S.A. Plus he has created a podcast page where he now showcases his recent mixes for the world to hear and is hard at work making his presence known once again to those that followed him and creating a new fan base. To find what DJ V-ROD is currently up to, you can find and/or contact him at: E-Mail – vrod711@sbcglobal.net www.facebook.com/djvrod Cell number – 773-576-8226 Podcast Page – http://djv-rod.podomatic.com

Remnant Woman is a ministry which encourages woman of faith to embrace who and what God says we are in His word. Without feeling the need to change it or apologize for it in a culture which views femininity and submission as weaknesses or something to be discarded. However, God’s word alone, which never changes, is our authority.

We want to pull back the curtain and bring you backstage, beyond the spotlight, to give you a glimpse into the world of folks like you and me who are working in the trenches of the music, theater, and entertainment industries. They may not be household names, but they are key players in bringing to life the shows we all enjoy. Over the last 41 years, your host Jon Diener has worked as a musician, producer, recording engineer, videographer, editor, motion graphics artist, and photographer. He’s spent most of his life around people working hard behind the scenes and wants to learn more about their journeys and share their stories with you.
