Welcome to How We Human. A podcast about creation. Join your hosts Evan Kidd & Toni Devon as we navigate how this timeless process sparked our very humanity as artists. Both met in undergraduate art school at the Leo Jenkins School of Art & Design at East Carolina University, graduating in 2014. Evan has gone on to work in the filmmaking industry with his independent production company RockSet Productions, creating his original feature film Son of Clowns on Amazon Prime Video, as well as industry music videos featured on XXL, Mass Appeal, and more. Toni is the founder and curator of the highly rated website 1ACCORD, and an MC himself. While premiering and cultivating some of the music industry’s brightest and emerging talent, Toni also has created several works in textiles including the beginnings of a clothing line. Both strive to push the culture of unique artistry forward with insightful conversation and exploration into just why it is we must create.

The Lord gave Branden a message about The Name Of Jesus and The Power in that name. Since then Branden and Destanie have been in full time ministry as well as sowing their time into Rallys for Christ and Billye Brim Ministries. Destanie is the lead singer of the band, The Queens, a worship band that includes her brothers and sister. Branden Brim is the grandson of Dr. Billye Brim and served as her personal assistant for three years when the desire for ministry began to burn in his heart. He followed the voice of God and moved to California, where he resides with his wife, Destanie.

Who’s a wounded healer? It’s any one of us who works in a caring profession and is bravely doing their own work, while helping others. My goal is to share the parallel journey we as healers walk along with our clients and how we attend to our own humanity while caring for others. My podcast is about conversations and community building, what we can learn from each other, and how we can help heal each other. We’re cultivating a space where we celebrate vulnerability, authenticity and “showing up.” It’s a place to meet people I think will inspire you, help you heal and grow – and who you can relate to at the same time. I’m inspired by C.G. Jung’s “wounded healer” concept, where the healer’s own hurt that gives the measure of his own power to heal. Another one of my heroes, Brene Brown, puts it best: “Mindfully practicing authenticity during our most soul-searching struggles is how we invite grace, joy and gratitude into our lives.” Together, I hope this marriage of vulnerability and professionalism will inspire and entertain you…enjoy!
