    Since You’ve Asked

In the 1960s, Collins evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 60-album body of work, thriving in the music industry for over a half a century. Her latest project, SINCE YOU`VE ASKED is an audio podcast series focusing on some of Collins` favorite musicians, artists and luminaries from her colorful life. A perfect platform for Collins, as her recordings of musical greats like Randy Newman, Jimmy Webb, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen helped launch their careers and create the foundation of our current pop history. The format of the show is conversation between Collins and a fellow musicians, songwriters, poets, authors, and creative thinkers. The project will launch July 2021 and will feature two studio podcasts a month. Future guests will be Jeff Daniels, Julia Cameron, Ben Harper, Pat Allerton and more… At age 82, Collins defies all preconceived notions of what an octogenarian life should be. She maintains a vigorous tour schedule and consistently strives to learn new things, delves into the important questions and forges new paths like creating a Podcast series – SINCE YOU’VE ASKED.

    Generation Green New Deal

    Generation Green New Deal

    by

    Since Aug 21, 2020 04:53 UTC

A new generation has pushed the climate crisis to the center of American politics. Generation Green New Deal tells the story of this youth movement: who they are, what they’ve accomplished so far, and where they go from here. Hosted by filmmaker Sam Eilertsen.

In this episode we examine the life (and death?) of President Biden’s centerpiece legislation: the “Build Back Better” plan. We’ve been getting the inside scoop from Lauren Maunus, Sunrise Movement’s Advocacy Director over the last six months as she’s lobbied congress to help push for what would be the biggest climate investment ever made by the US government.

You can help push Congress to pass Build Back Better by joining us in making calls here:

    The Vanity Project

    The Vanity Project

    by

    Since Nov 30, 2021 15:07 UTC

Welcome to The Vanity Project, hosted by Drag queen Vanity von Glow. This series will showcase engaging discussions between a drag queen and unlikely guests from the worlds of entertainment, media and politics. It will juxtapose the laughs we all know and expect from a drag queen, with more thoughtful, engaging discussions and insight.

A reigning queen of Soho, Vanity is one of the UK’s most recognisable cabaret stars, famed for her lively shows at the piano. Being a creative of the nightlife, Vanity is also an advocate for personal freedom, free speech, and radical tolerance. She has caused a stir with appearances on panel discussions for the BBC, Sky News, Byline TV and more. VVG believes in tackling ideas rather than people, and prides herself on taking time to consider all points of view. Guests at The Vanity Project will be encouraged to relax, be themselves and express their truth.

The Vanity Project began life in front of a live audience in Covent Garden’s glamorous hClub in 2018 featuring guests such as satirist Jonathan Pie, journalist Dan Wooton, and black community activist and performer Sadie Sinner. Now Vanity is exchanging the live audience for the intimacy of a podcast. Performers are known for being talkers, but this queen is also a great listener. In a cultural moment where it feels like everyone is shouting at one another, we offer you a classic innuendo: it is time to go in deeper with Vanity von Glow.

Themes range from wellness/mindfulness, human rights, youth culture, the LGBT+ experience, politics and more, with guests bringing their own themes and experiences to the podcast.

    We Are The Voices Radio

    by

    Since Jul 10, 2020 05:37 UTC

We Are the Voices Radio is pleased to present inspiring poetry readings and edifying conversations, recorded this past fall and in spring and summer 2020. The episodes included in this series feature the voices of nationally prominent activists, scholars, poets, and more. We offer these episodes in the hope that they will contribute to our listeners’ well-being and self-reflection, and will heighten their awareness, and move them to action. “We Are the Voices” is a Mellon Foundation Higher Education and Scholarship in the Humanities-funded project that forges an alliance between arts, literature, and public humanities. We are housed at Mills College in Oakland, CA, which sits on the ancestral and unceded land of the Ohlone people. This land acknowledgment serves as just a starting point for accountability and for actions to support indigenous organizations and change movements.

Listen to What We Do for energy and inspiration. New episodes every other week.

    Dare to Use the F-Word

    by

    Since Apr 23, 2013 17:00 UTC

Dare to Use the F-Word tells the stories of today’s feminists through the art, the ideas, the community, and the activism that define them. These monthly podcasts, co-produced by the Barnard Center for Research on Women and Barnard College Communications, will bring you interviews, conversations, and voices making change to create a more just world. And there’s no better place to do this than at Barnard. For nearly 125 years, this College, in the vibrant City of New York, with the first center for research on women in the US, has been a hub of young feminist activity – a place where theory and practice, scholarship and action, converge. We dare to use the F-Word. We hope you’ll join us.
