    Jupiter’s Almanac

    Jupiter’s Almanac

    by

    Since Sep 28, 2020 16:15 UTC

Jupiter’s Almanac is a podcast about growing and producing the food we eat, featuring the hard-earned wisdom of chef and farmer Matthew Raiford. Matthew is the great-great-great grandson of Jupiter Gilliard, who bought farmland in Coastal Georgia in 1874, following his emancipation. Matthew and his family still farm that land today, nearly 150 years later, while promoting organic practices and sharing their Gullah-Geechee heritage through food. In this series, Matthew is sharing what he’s learned from his inheritance, plus he’s inviting other farmers from Georgia and across the country to share their tips and stories, too. Jupiter’s Almanac is a show for everyone who is interested in growing their own food and reconnecting with the land – whether you are just starting out with a square foot garden or a seasoned farmer. Old Fashioned On Purpose

    by

    Since Aug 7, 2019 20:00 UTC

Have you felt it? Something is rippling through humanity at this moment. It’s a stirring… a longing… a remembering. A sense that we are more capable than we’ve been led to believe. We want to feel alive, not sedated.. but we’ve lost our way. We’ve traded a life intertwined with nature for asphalt and artificial lights. We’ve swapped natural movement for a sedentary existence. We’ve given up food from the earth in favor of food from the factory. We’ve sacrificed our traditional skillsets for apps and gadgets. But while our overdose on modernity may have made us sick, there is an antidote. Join best-selling author and mentor, Jill Winger, each week as she digs into a different facet of the old-fashioned on purpose lifestyle.

    What You’re Eating

    by

    Since Feb 2, 2022 18:17 UTC

Whether it’s a salad, a hamburger or your morning egg sandwich, the way your meal gets made has an impact. What You’re Eating is here to help you understand how your food gets to your plate, and see the full impact of the food we eat on animals, planet and people. Host Jerusha Klemperer is the Director of FoodPrint.org, a website that uncovers the problems with the industrial food system, and offers examples of more sustainable practices, as well as practical advice for how you can help support a better system, through the food that you buy and the system changes you push for. From practical conversations with farmers about the true cost of raising chickens to tips from chefs about how to reduce kitchen waste to discussions with policy experts on the barriers to sustainability, FoodPrint’s new podcast covers everything from the why to the how.

Have you ever dreamt of starting a farm or homesteading? Do you love foraging for wild edibles? Is your perfect afternoon spent drifting downriver, fishing for that nights dinner? Or do love to spend a crisp fall morning hunting for wild game to share with your family? Or perhaps you spend all your free time digging in your garden, collecting herbs, vegetables, and fruits to enjoy. Homesteady is a show that focuses on living a more sustainable life. We talk about all the ways a modern Homesteader can put food on the table, from the fields, streams, gardens and woodlands.
